Meet Deborah Lovett
I’ve loved horses from an early age and I believe everyone with a dream to learn all about horses should be able to.
I rode my first horse named Mary-Anne, when I ws 18 months old and a dream was born. I began a passion of my lifetime – Horses.
Every day since then, I have structured my life around having horses close to me. I also deeply understand now that I have been gifted with an opportunity to help others follow a similar path. And so I created short courses about horses, hence the name Short Horse Courses Online.
Deborah Lovett is an enthusiastic and experienced equine coach and educator, with over 15,000 students impacted from her contribution to equine education, training and assessing. Horse Safety Australia have named her one of their highly effective and resourceful trainers over the past fifteen years.
As an early pioneer of formal equine education, Deborah’s training has impacted over 300 students weekly over a 25-year span in the education industry in Australia and now these courses are brought to the online platform. She has been involved in accredited equine and animal training packages for the recreational and performance industry, trail riding, racing, breeding and riding instructor programs and the companion animal industry. She has impacted 1000’s of families as they make their first endeavours into owning horses, and she delights in the thrill of seeing riders on a horse for the very first time.
Many of her students have progressed into flourishing careers in the equine world as professional riders, veterinarians, vet nurses, farriers, trainers, grooms, track riders, and of course just pursuing a passion as skilled and knowledgeable recreational riders. Deborah’s passion is to Teach, Encourage and Inspire equine enthusiasts as they increase their skill and knowledge so they can be more confident whilst interacting with horses.
She is heavily involved in Vocational Education and Training as well as risk assessments for equestrian competitions and equine venue operations. As a keen participant and competitor in various disciplines including Working Equitation, she contributes by serving on many committees by locally and nationally.
Deborah is a qualified Riding Instructor both in Australia and England with the British Horse Society. Her lifetime goal is to ride Lusitano horses in Portugal for six months of every year. She serves on several committees and has decades of experience writing educational curriculum, assessments and exams in both equine and animal studies.

Yes, many! We have many students who have been able to gain more knowledge and skill in dealing with horses. However, this course is now being offered to the general public and open to any person who wants to learn.
You can access everything with an internet browser. The course content will be emailed to you as a PDF which enables you to easily navigate the course materials on your mobile device. You may also wish to download the free Zoom app to access the Q&A sessions. We give complete instructions inside the course platform.
The fact that you are still looking to learn more about horses means that you have an inquiring mind. No other program teaches our framework. And no other program has the support of our accrediated, experienced and professional trainers, to give you answers to your questions in the weekly zoom sessions.
All sessions are always recorded and the recordings are uploaded to the Q&A archives within 24-48 hours after the session is over. Every recording is available in downloadable video and audio format so you can watch or listen, whenever, and wherever you prefer.
This is unlike other courses. This is the first time we are offering a course of this standard to a worldwide audience. Once you have enrolled, you will receive a workbook and some learning resources. You will have access to the you tube videos, and the weekly live zoom sessions. We will "hold your hand" as you progress through the workbooks to complete the first and subsequent units of study.
If and when you have questions or problems, come to the Facebook Group and post your issue. Include a detailed explanation and video if it is relevant. You can, alternatively ask in the Live Q&A sessions. It is possible to have a VIP video coaching session at an extra cost.
Every single video, audio file, every exercise PDF, diagram, checklist… EVERYTHING is completely downloadable and yours to keep forever. If you are anything like me, I have to rewatch things often to let the new informaiton sink in. :)
Yes! In fact horses have one thing in common. No matter the breed, they are still horses and have the same basic instincts and needs. It is a melting pot where everyone finds common ground through the love of the horses, the passion for learning, and the ability to apply the skill and knowledge regardless of the breed of the horse, background of horse or rider.

Family members in the same household can join at a the founding members price but need to have a separate account to allow us to track their progress through the course. They can share access to the Facebook Group. Just email us at hello@shorthorsecourses.com to get invited to the FB Group.
We cannot guarantee success. That is up to you. There is no quick-fix method to anything. You still have to show up, be willing to try new things, and implement what you learn. But knowledge is power and the more access you have to knowledge and tools that WORK, the more you increase your chances of success. As far as satisfaction with the course, we have a 14-day refund period. Try it and see if you like it for 14 days before making your final decision.
